From The Reference Library: Prada Luna Rossa
As we get things off the ground, we wanted to share a glimpse into some of the people, places, and ideas that have inspired us along the journey of bringing Ünique Nourishment into the world.
What follows is the first installment of an ongoing series exploring the references we continue to return to. We begin with one of the more niche influences behind the brand: Prada and their Luna Rossa program.

One niche reference that has had a more subtle influence on Ünique Nourishment than one might expect is Prada and their Luna Rossa program.
There is a certain balance between performance and elegance found within Luna Rossa that is difficult to find elsewhere in sports. It is also one of the few instances where a luxury fashion house has successfully entered the world of competition, creating apparel and equipment that feel equally informed by technical performance as by thoughtful design and attention to detail.
While far from the only influence on the brand, Luna Rossa helped shape some of our early thinking around creative direction. Specifically, the late 1990s and early 2000s era of Prada. Not only through the Luna Rossa program, but also through the introduction of Prada Sport. What made that period so compelling was the balance it struck. The products were built around performance, yet carried a sense of refinement rarely found within the category. Prada brought its own perspective into the world of sport and created something entirely unique in the process while remaining distinctly Prada.
Beyond the boats, apparel, and imagery was a distinct point of view. One that felt equally at home in sport, design, travel, and culture. Perhaps that is what makes Luna Rossa so compelling. Sailing has long occupied a unique place in the sporting world, combining competition, engineering, craftsmanship, and a certain sense of elegance that few sports possess.
There was an ease to the way Prada approached that world. The suggestion that performance and refinement were not opposing forces, but complementary ones. The result felt aspirational not because it was exclusive, but because it presented a vision of a person we continue to find compelling. Someone who values performance first, but carries an appreciation for design, culture, and the details that make life more interesting along the way.
